Solavita Installs Solar and Battery System for Dynamic Tariffs in Jesteburg
The 18.9 kW PV and 20.48 kWh battery system is designed to simplify home energy management and use live electricity prices to guide battery operation after commissioning
JESTEBURG, Germany
Solavita is installing and commissioning a HEMS-integrated residential energy system in Jesteburg, pairing 18.9 kW of rooftop solar PV with 20.48 kWh of battery storage. The HEMS is designed to coordinate solar generation, household demand, battery storage and grid exchange through a single control layer. Tariff-based battery control will be activated after commissioning and testing.
It is Solavita's first residential reference project following its repositioning as a Smart Microgrid Expert for Diverse Energy Scenarios.

Changing Energy Conditions for European Homes
For European households combining rooftop solar with battery storage, the challenge is increasingly about timing as well as generation. Solar output is concentrated during daylight hours, while household demand often extends into the morning and evening. Dynamic tariffs add another time-based variable because the cost of grid electricity can change throughout the day.
Without automated energy management, homeowners need to decide when to use solar directly, when to store it and when to draw from the grid. With German electricity suppliers now offering dynamic tariffs, the ability to adjust consumption and battery operation in response to price changes is becoming more relevant.

Against this backdrop, the homeowner of Jesteburg Mr. Sauerland set clear priorities for the project: use more of the solar electricity generated on site, reduce electricity costs and reliance on the grid, prepare for dynamic tariffs and make energy easier to manage. Mr. Sauerland said: "I wanted a clearer and easier way to manage energy at home. Once the system is running, I will be able to see how much electricity the home is generating and using, while the system handles battery charging and responds to price changes in the background. That means I can stay informed without having to manage energy throughout the day."
How the Jesteburg System Manages Energy
Once commissioned, the HEMS will serve as the control layer for the Jesteburg system. It is configured to monitor five types of data: solar generation, household electricity consumption, battery charging and discharging, electricity purchased from the grid, and surplus electricity exported to the grid. The homeowner will be able to view this information through a single interface.
Under the system's default self-consumption logic, solar generation first serves immediate household demand. Surplus electricity then charges the battery, and any remaining energy can be exported to the grid. When solar generation is insufficient, the battery supplies the home before additional electricity is drawn from the grid. This sequence is designed to maximise the on-site use of solar energy while meeting household demand.
Tariff-based operation builds on this default sequence. As operating data accumulates, the HEMS can analyse historical solar generation and household consumption to forecast future generation and demand and refine energy scheduling. After commissioning and testing, the HEMS will use live dynamic electricity price data alongside solar output, household demand and battery status to adjust the battery's charging and discharging schedule.
Tariff-aware control is intended to make better use of lower-price periods and limit electricity purchases during higher-price periods

Smart Energy Designed Around Everyday Life
The homeowner will be able to see how the home is generating, storing and using electricity, while the HEMS manages routine battery decisions as generation, demand and prices change.
Qu Wanfei, Executive President and General Manager of the Overseas Business Division at SKYWORTH Solar, said the project reflects Solavita's approach to household energy. "For Solavita, smart energy should fit naturally into everyday life. We want households to enjoy a more comfortable and lower-carbon way of living, with greater confidence in how their energy is managed. That belief shapes both the products we develop and the support we provide throughout the life of the system."
Once sufficient operating data are available, the Jesteburg system will be evaluated against the homeowner's original priorities. In Jesteburg, Solavita's brand promise, Vital Energy. Vital Life., takes practical form in a home energy system designed around daily needs and supported throughout its service life.
